All Aboard the Annual QHS Holiday House Tour!

For this year’s 38th Annual Holiday Tour, visitors will explore five historic sites in Flushing including the Voelker Orth Museum (1891), the John Bowne House (1661), Kingsland Homestead (1774), the Quaker Meeting House (1694) and the Lewis Latimer House (c.1889) The event will take place on Sunday, December 14th from 12pm until 4pm.

In celebration of the late Jeffrey A. Kroessler’s book Rural County, Urban Borough: A History of Queens (Rutgers U. Press, 2025), his widow, Laura Heim, will present the unique production process and engaging content of this first comprehensive, scholarly, and readable history of the great borough of Queens. Join us at Kingsland Homestead on September 18th at 7pm for Long Island and the Legacy of Eugenics: Station of Intolerance by Professor Mark Torre who will recount the dark history of the eugenics program developed a century ago on Long Island in Cold Spring Harbor at the Eugenics Record Office (ERO), under the direction of Charles Benedict Davenport from 1910 to 1939.
