Join us at Kingsland on November 6th at 7pm for a book talk, The Sea Made Us, with author Rob MacKay

Queens Historical Society Board President Rob MacKay discusses his third book, The Sea Made Us, which celebrates a little-known ethnic group based in Honduras. He goes into the history, language, spirituality, cuisine, and other aspects of a fascinating society that has been able to maintain its traditions despite centuries of persecution. Mr. MacKay lived in Honduras in the 1990s. He met an African-Indigenous ethnic group that has maintained its culture despite centuries of exile, massacres and modernization. His new book, The Sea Made Us, takes a deep dive into this group and its fascinating culture.
