Mandarin Virtual Tour of Historic Sites in Flushing | 中文线上游：皇后区的历史地标

It seems the cold weather has finally left, Spring is on its way to Flushing, Queens. Following the warmer weather, many people plan to step out of their houses and go somewhere for fresh air and entertainment. The Queens History Society will share four interesting local museums information to everyone in Flushing.

看起来寒冷的气候终于要离开了，春天正迈步向法拉盛走来。伴随着气温的上升，更多的人计划离开他们的住所，出门走走，呼吸新鲜空气，娱乐一下。那么今天，就请跟随我们皇后区历史协会（QHS），一起来了解四座法拉盛当地有趣的历史地标/博物馆。

Although these museums are closed now, we can provide virtual tours to you. Our virtual tour will bring the stories related to these museums. We hope you will enjoy the stories.

Here are many museums in the Queens Community, some of them are newer and some of them are older. Like Flushing Meeting House, it is part of the Religious Society of Friends. The Flushing Remonstrance was be written by some thirty residents of the small settlement in Flushing, requesting an exemption for Quaker worship, and religious freedom. This document stood for the religious freedom belief in America. The meetinghouse is the oldest house of worship in New York, and every Queens resident should be proud of Flushing Meeting House.

The Lewis H. Latimer House is the place where Mr. Latimer lived in Queens. He was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts and he joined the Union Navy when he was young. He learned a lot about science and technology before he retired. He became electrical pioneer, he used to work for Thomas Edison. Mr. Latimer invented the carbon filament, a significant improvement in the production of the incandescent light bulb.

路易斯·拉提莫故居是拉提莫先生在法拉盛的住所。他生于麻省的切尔西，年轻时加入海军，在退役前学到了很多科学知识。作为电力学领域的先驱，他曾经为托马斯.爱迪生工作。拉提莫先生发明了碳丝技术，这是碳丝灯泡产品的伟大杰出改良技术。

The house used to be located on Holly Ave, it faced the risk of demolition, and in 1988 the house was moved to its present location. Today the house is a museum, it allows visitors to experience where Mr. Latimer did his experiments. The museum provides several languages, include Chinese.

The Voelker Orth Museum is a young one among others in Queens. It has Bird Sanctuary and Victorian Garden, and preserves and interprets cultural and horticultural heritage. The house was lived in by the Voelker family in 1899.

沃克奥梭博物馆在皇后区众多的历史博物馆中显得比较年轻。它保存了维多利亚式的花园和观赏鸟类的场所，并致力于展示他们独特的文化和园艺遗产。直至1899年，沃克家族都一直生活在这里。

Conrad Voelcker came from Germany as an immigrant. The house is located near Long Island Railway Station. Voelcker’s granddaughter, Elisabetha Orth, left her estate to establish the museum. There are many collections in the house to show the family life in 1930. Our virtual tour will provide some collections refer to this German immigrant family story.
