Queens Walking Tours with Adrienne Onofri

Join us on one, two or three Sundays this spring for neighborhood walking tours with Adrienne Onofri, author of the book “Walking Queens.” As we explore the neighborhood’s history as a planned community, its notable architecture, vital cultural institutions, community life and local parks. The tour will be led by Adrienne Onofri, a guide and author of the book “Walking Queens.” Cost is $5 for QHS members, $10 for non-members.

Meeting place: At the sidewalk clock within small park in front of 1 Court Square, Jackson Ave. & 44th Drive (nearest subway: Court Square E / 7 / G)

Stroll beneath those new high-rises that have given Queens a skyline, along the streets and waterfront of this vibrant, historic neighborhood. Once an independent city, LIC brims with great civic and residential architecture, an industrial heritage and the best waterfront in NYC.

Meeting place: Benches of College Point Park, directly across from 13-39 College Point Blvd. (Q65 from Flushing/Main St. stops less than a block away)

Let’s go off the beaten path, and off the 7 line, and get to know this residential community along Queens’ north shore. Learn how a German industrialist helped create the neighborhood and tried to make it a better place to live for his employees. Explore different periods in College Point’s history as we seek out both extant and lost places from those eras.
