Rivkah Lapidus was born in Brooklyn and spent the majority of her childhood years in Flushing. Her book, ‘The Middle: Growing Up in Flushing’, is a delightful memoir of growing up in Flushing. Of her book, Rivkah says, “Writing about those years evoked memories and connected me with many friends, old and new. I became aware that I am writing a cultural history of the mid-20th century from a child’s point of view. As I moved on in life, I found myself in the Boston area, where I received a degree in art therapy, met my husband Todd Kaplan, and had two daughters, Alexandra and Mira. I pursued doctoral studies in Clinical Psychology, but returned to my first love, drawing and painting. I would describe life as circular, not linear. I wrote as a child, and am returning to writing now in these later years. I have one beautiful granddaughter, and 3 cats.”
