Queens’ Green Thumb: The Flushing Garden Club

Curated by Daniela Addamo

December 2019 – November 2020

Queens’ Green Thumb: The Flushing Garden Club
is under our new exhibition series Treasures from the Collection which features themed displays, rotating once a year, that draw from the items within Queens Historical Society’s collection. Queens’ Green Thumb: The Flushing Garden Club celebrates the rich horticultural history of Queens through the lens of the dedicated women of The Flushing Garden Club, founded in 1914.

The exhibition highlights the contributions of the club that range from preservation efforts and formation of parks such as Kissena, Victory Gardens, and large scale floral shows such as the Garden’s on Parade pavilion at the 1939 World’s Fair.
