Dr. Ronald J. Brown Talks Religious History in Queens

Join us at Kingsland Homestead (QHS) for an indepth-look at the history of religious freedom and tolerance. Dr. Ronald J. Brown, a historian and professor, documents Flushing, Queens, as a foundational site of American religious freedom, famously highlighted by the 1657, Flushing Remonstrance. His work explores how early English settlers established “liberty of conscience” against Dutch restrictions, transforming the area into a haven for Quakers, Huguenots, and Jews.

Copies of Dr. Brown’s book, A Religious History of Flushing, Queens will be available for purchase and autograph.
