2018 Art & History Contest Award Winners

21st Annual Art & History Contest

This contest is open to all 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade students in the Borough of Queens!

The Challenge: Pick your favorite historic building or site in Queens. If you need some ideas, refer to a list of Queens Landmarks or monuments.

Ideas Include: Post Office, Library, Church, Temple, Mosque, Park, Cemetery, Statue.

Draw the building or site that you have chosen on a separate piece of paper (8 1/2×11).

Write at least one paragraph stating the name of the place you drew, its history, and the reason you picked it. 

 Contest Rules:

1. Your drawing must be on  8 1/2 by 11 inches paper.

2. You may use pencils, colored pencils, crayons or watercolors.

3. Complete the entry form and glue or tape it to the back of your drawing. 2018 School Entry Form

4. Write an essay about your subject, then paper clip it to the back of your drawing. Make sure to use your school heading!

5. Give your drawing, with the essay and $1 processing fee paper clipped together, to your teacher.

**Please note that your work becomes the property of the Queens Historical Society.**

Winners: A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner will be chosen from each grade.

1st place winners will receive a $50 gift card.

2nd place winners will receive a $35 gift card.

3rd place winners will receive a $25 gift card.

All participants get a certificate!

There will be a reception for the winners, held at 2:30pm on Saturday, May 12th, 2018, at QHS.
